The Mediterranean rhythm of light and sea formed the initial landscape of my visual language. My formal education followed British and European systems in the legal field. I founded my international law firm and served as an International Judge for the United Nations and the European Union. I have been painting since my teens and throughout my professional life painting remained my parallel discipline, refined through intensive specialised residencies in France and Italy.
I am interested in how a painting can quietly shape an environment—how it can keep attention and emotional balance. My paintings are created as individual works, a process of careful decision-making and refinement. But they are always conceived with an awareness of how they will be experienced over time and within space. Each work explores atmosphere and light through my approach to abstraction. I never dictate meaning or explain as I believe a painting must stand on its own merits. I aim at allowing different responses to emerge according to context, light, and moment.
My practice brings together Western painterly traditions of expressive movement and atmosphere. But I am also influenced by Japanese aesthetics, where art reflects the way life is lived—imperfect, transient, and deeply human. Concepts such as wabi-sabi, ma, and yūgen inform both my philosophical approach and the visual structure of my work.
My works are held in private collections in several countries. While I am grateful for this interest, the purpose of showing my work online is not primarily commercial. My paintings matter very much to me as do the ideas behind them. There is no better feeling than translating those ideas onto a blank canvas. Equally important to me are the feelings of the viewers of my works who pause, reflect, and reconnect with their own thoughts and perceptions. These are the viewers who I hope will spend time with my works.
Each work is executed using professional-grade pigmented oils on premium quality cotton or linen, in most cases purchased from Winsor and Newton.
This ensures excellent structural integrity and archival longevity. In particular works I also employ a traditional layering process of transparent glazes with special glazing mediums to guarantee transparency.
This commitment to premium materials ensures that the painting remains a stable and enduring treasured companion to the discerning viewer.
