Obscured by clouds: oil on special textured wood. Framed.
The title is borrowed from Pink Flloyd. This is one of my works that explores the emotional landscape of the Mediterranean coast—its warmth, its rhythm, its timeless pull. The forms are hardly abstracted: hints of buildings and bastions emerge from muted layers of color of a restricted palette. The alla prima approach captures the spontaneity of memory. These are not literal seafronts, but dreamlike impressions—places where land meets sea, and past meets present. The heavy cloud element, painted in a deep mix is important here for me as it gives the scene a particular, universal dimension. The clouds strengthen the move away from pure realism , they are not normal Med clouds.
“Obscured by Clouds” captures the quiet poetry of moments we often overlook — the shifting sky, the softness of light, and the delicate boundary between clarity and mystery. In this work, Godwin invites the viewer to pause and breathe, to embrace what cannot be fully defined. The clouds become symbols of change and introspection, reminding us that beauty often lives in the in-between spaces. Through subtle tones and atmospheric depth, the piece evokes a sense of calm curiosity — an invitation to look beyond the obvious and find meaning within the unseen.
