The mind constructs meaning from a large number of scattered ideas based on our emotional state at the time. These complex ideas are grouped in this painting in non linear bands of values and colours that are harmonious but diverse. I worked alla prima and there is no focal point as we understand it normally.
The colours blend, the thought is uncomplicated, the idea forms without much energy. Thought flows.
The edges of the bands are soft , just as thoughts blend with each other. This is an invitation for quiet reflection, perhaps with a different focus every time one looks at it.
There must be a pattern of some sort in our thoughts, at least when we are focussed on an idea. In this work I am thinking of a tranquil moment, a circular or elliptical pattern where the mind returns to base after collecting new strands of thought.
